Secretary of Department of Work & Pensions visits ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­ Launchpad to explore workforce partnerships

The recent visit of Peter Schofield, the Secretary of The Department of Work & Pensions (DWP), to Partners in ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­â€™s ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­ Launchpad at The Galleries, marks a significant exploration into workforce partnerships and strategies for managing them effectively.

Mr Schofield’s visit was a part of his wider travels, looking at how The Department for Work and Pensions manage its partnerships. The visit to The ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­ Launchpad was focused on the topics of the older workforce (50+), as well as youth unemployment.  

Partners in ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­â€™s ‘Older Workers Employability’ course addresses the challenges faced by the older workforce when re-entering the working world. This initiative provides a supportive environment where participants can rebuild confidence while defining their transferable skills. The course curriculum covers essential topics such as leveraging internet resources for job hunting, crafting an effective CV and mastering interview techniques.

During his visit, Mr Schofield embarked on a tour of the facilities at the ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­ Launchpad, immersing himself in conversations with career coaches and learners alike. He also engaged with participants enrolled in the Partners in ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­â€™s ‘IT User Fundamentals’ course.

Talking of Mr Schofield’s visit, Abigail added: “The learners were all very engaged in the course content and the tutor had a great understanding of employability for older workers.â€

Schofield’s visit to the ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­ Launchpad brings to light the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the multifaceted challenges of unemployment and workforce reintegration.
