Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 3 Certificate ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­

This part-time, one-year course will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to work with children and young people in school and college environments.

Who is this course for?

This course is for adults aged 19 and over who are working in roles which support pupils’ learning in primary, secondary and special schools as well as colleges.

What you'll learn

This course covers all aspects of specialist supporting including: planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher, bilingual support, special needs support and personal development and reflective practice.

You will study topics like understanding how to safeguard children and young people, understand how to support learning of children and young people and how to support assessment for learning.

Course entry requirements

To join this course you must be 19 years and over, can obtain a DBS check, arrange a school placement for at least one day per week.

For Level 3, you need to hold at least a Level 2 in adult literacy or a GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above. You must also have at least six months relevant experience. This course is not for beginners.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

During this course you will be taught in college for one day per week, over one year.

You will need to complete around 5-10 hours per week of independent study and complete one day per week in a school placement for the duration of the course.

You will be assessed through building a portfolio of evidence (both theoretical and practical) which will show that you are competent over 11 units, including subjects such as Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Supporting English and Maths and Professional Development.

You will have at least one observation in your school.

Future career and study opportunities

After successfully completing this course, you can progress onto a foundation degree or other specialist roles within the workforce.

As a ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­ student, you may incur additional costs to attend your course. For example, it is likely you may need to pay for travel and stationery.

Alongside the course fee, you will need to pay for your DBS check. You will also be required to buy a textbook for this course.

If you are on a limited income, you may be able to receive help from our Learner Support Funding Bursary.
