Graphic Design Practices Module Level 4 ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­

The Graphic Design Practices Module Level 4 course is part of the HN Flex programme, which allows students to study individual units and gain a Certificate of Unit Credit, with the opportunity to progress onto a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND).

This HN Flex course allows students to learn graphic design techniques and practices, and to build up a portfolio of work that will support professional development or progression into further study. This unit is from the Pearson HN Art & Design Framework – Graphic Design pathway, and can be used as credit towards a full Higher National Certificate or Diploma.

Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone aged 19 or over who is interested in gaining knowledge and experience in graphic design, but for whom a full qualification may not be suitable. You might be already employed and want to develop professionally, needing to fulfil criteria for another qualification, or simply unable to commit to a full qualification.

You’ll benefit from expert teaching from our professional photography team at the College alongside students on our Higher Education Graphic Design programmes, whilst undertaking a project that supports you to develop technical skills and build a portfolio of work.

You will learn and develop skills in:

  • Generating ideas and concepts

  • Professional software including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign

Course entry requirements

As the unit is delivered at Level 4, candidates should have a Level 3 qualification. This doesn’t have to be in graphic design, but we do expect candidates to have some background experience of graphic design in a non-professional capacity.

You should have English and Maths at GCSE grade 4 or Level 2. If you don’t have this, we can undertake an Initial Assessment to help you to show you can work at this attainment level.

How is the course delivered and assessed?

The course is delivered through classroom/studio sessions. Candidates will infill with our Higher Education Graphic Design students in college and will engage in taught content and assignment tasks for the part of the course that you join. You’ll be set an assignment that you will complete under the expert guidance of our Graphic Design lecturers.

Future career and study opportunities

This unit is from the Pearson HN Art & Design Framework – Graphic Design pathway, and can be used as credit towards a full Higher National Certificate or Diploma. You could study additional units within Graphic Design or the further Creative subject. You can discuss all your options with your unit teachers.
