Level 2 Award/Diploma in Creative Media Production (TV and Film) ÎÛÎÛÂþ»­

This full-time, one-year course will introduce you to TV and Film Production.ÌýÌý

You will have the opportunity to create several media products, each focussing on developing specific skill sets within moving image productions.Ìý

Completing these projects will lead to the Final Major Project, an opportunity to put everything you have learned into a more ambitious media product. This may be a film, animation, promotional video or other media project.ÌýÌý

You will largely have creative control of your productions and you are encouraged to explore your own ideas and creativity.ÌýÌý

Who is this course for?

This course is for young people aged 16-18 and adults aged 19 and over who are interested in learning how to develop and create their own media productions, such as short films and documentaries, but have had very little experience in this area. Ìý

What you'll learn

Filming, lighting, sound recording, video and audio editing, importance of locations and set design, and screenwriting. You will also learn about the crucial role that research plays when developing ideas for productions, as well as planning and knowing your target audience.ÌýÌý

Course entry requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including Maths and/or English or a Level 1 Diploma in a relevant subject plus GCSEs in Maths and/or English, or a Functional Skills qualification in Maths and/or English.

We will invite you to a Course information meeting event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

You will provide a copy of your last school report and/or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course.

Some Level 2 Technical qualifications may require a slightly higher entry requirement based on the specific content of the course. This may include having English or Maths at Grade 4

How is the course delivered and assessed?

You will work on a series of units throughout the academic year, during which you will learn and develop more technically challenging and ambitious creative skills.ÌýÌý

All assessment is through coursework – there are no examsÌý

Future career and study opportunities

This course prepares you to study Creative Media at Level 3, after which you may progress into university, entry-level employment, or a media apprenticeship.Ìý

Additional costs

Students will be expected to buy some essential equipment. This includes an SD card, an external hard drive and headphones (with a mini jack).

Applications can be made to the Learner Support Fund by students from low-household incomes. Ìý
